FIRST-YEAR

Two projects that deal with the idea of framing as a tool for producing new relationships and contexts. Both projects share the color black as their starting point, understanding black as a method of exchange as well as the black frame.

The first is a project for a facade and a public square. The structure splits itself apart from the city like a wedge and creates a unique homogenous interior. In this case the space acts as a device for understanding the city.

The second is a project for a single room. The room is moved vertically along a sea wall by a floating lava rock which acts as a buoy. Thus the room is controlled by the tide as well as the movement of the sun.
